Let's start the year in the Creative and Performing Arts at Churchill

Hello and welcome to a brand new year of learning, growing and memories in the CAPA program! We are excited to introduce a new way of communicating with the students and parents of our program...we are blogging!!!!!
Throughout the year, the teachers of CAPA will be sharing classroom experiences, inspiration, photos and videos to better connect our CAPA community. Please check our blog often, as we will be updating as much as possible week to week.
Our first big event will be Hairspray auditions. This is CAPA's first show of the year and all strands and grade levels are encouraged to audition. Auditions will be held in the theatre on September 8&9th at 2:30, those with 7th hours can join us after class. Here is what to expect at the audition:
You will sing, dance and act at the audition.

Mrs. K. will have a dance workshop during all CAPA hours on September 5th, where you will learn the dance for the audition. On audition day, you will perform that dance in a group onstage.

Mrs. Porter will sing through the songs during all CAPA classes on September 4th, so you will be familiar with the songs before the audition. On the day of the audition, you will be asked to sing some of these songs.

Ms. Hillman will provide scenes (sides) on the day of the audition. You will be put into groups, given a role to read for and will be able to rehearse in the hall before auditioning with the scene onstage.

A callback list will be posted on Ms. Hillman's webpage of JOY and those people will audition again on September 11th at 2:30. (7th hour joins us after class) The cast list will be up that night and we will have a cast/crew read thru on Friday, September 12th at 2:30.

We are very excited to begin this new year!
